The best time to photograph newborns is within the first 14 days of life. During this short window, babies are still very sleepy, naturally curled up, and easier to pose for those perfect shots that parents adore. As the days go by, babies become more alert and their flexibility changes, making it dangerous to achieve some of those iconic newborn poses after a certain time-frame. Within 14 days ensures we are well within that ideal timing to capture the photos you dream of!

To ensure you secure a spot on my calendar, I recommend booking your newborn photography session with your maternity session around 20 weeks—during your second trimester, third at the latest! Here’s why:

This timeframe also happens to coincide perfectly with your spouse/partner being on baby leave too! Once your baby is born, you’ll simply contact me within 72 hours to finalize our session date.

After baby is so many weeks old, I no longer offer Posed Studio Newborn Sessions, but instead offer a Studio Lifestyle alternative in my Michigan City studio. These include photos of your baby and family in my carefully curated, simple boho vibes bedroom set. This way you will still have photos to cherish of your sweet little baby, and your growing family!
