Becoming a parent is one of the most transformative and beautiful experiences in life, and every family's journey is unique. Recently, I had the honor of welcoming the Wallen family to my studio in Michigan City, Indiana, located in the heart of Northwest Indiana, for a truly special newborn photoshoot.
A Story of Resilience and Joy
After 14 years of trying to conceive, the Wallens defied the odds and welcomed their baby girl, Alexandra Sophia, into the world. Doctors once said they wouldn’t be able to have childrenl, but baby Alexandra proved them wrong. She’s not just a bundle of joy; she’s a living, breathing miracle.
It was important to me to create a space where the Wallens could celebrate this monumental moment, free from stress, and capture the beauty of their story.
A Simple, Timeless Session
The Wallens requested a simple and minimal style for their session, which allowed the focus to remain entirely on their love for each other and their sweet baby girl. They chose light, airy colors, which beautifully complemented their family’s warmth and joy.
Baby Alexandra, like many babies, isn’t a fan of being cold. Lucky for her, I keep the studio a cozy and comfortable (for naked newborns!) 80 degrees. Snuggling her in soft wraps and keeping her content allowed us to capture precious, natural moments.
The Magic of Parent-Child Photos
One of the most meaningful images we captured was of Alexandra with both of her parents and a photo of this sweet girl with their pup—Hercules. The pure emotion and pride in their faces tell a story words cannot. Moments like these are why I love what I do.
